MAKING A DIFFERENCE EVERY DAY
Celebrating our nurses during National Nurses Month
May is National Nurses Month, and at UF Health, we’re thrilled to honor and celebrate our nurses for their hard work and dedication to patient care. This year’s theme is “You Make a Difference” and that sentiment couldn’t hold truer for our nursing staff.
“At UF Health, our nurses are integral to our mission of providing the highest quality of care to our patients,” said Irene Alexaitis, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, UF Health Shands chief nursing officer and Nursing and Patient Services vice president. “Nurses are there for patients and their families during some of the most challenging times in their lives, and it’s an honor to be able to support them in any way we can.”
Throughout the month, there are several events and activities to recognize and honor our nurses, including the Nightingale Ceremony, educational webinars and a prize giveaway. A special focus is on professional development, which is highlighted by continuing education courses and resources to help our nurses expand their knowledge and skills.
We’re grateful to have a team of nurses who are not only dedicated but also compassionate in their care for patients. We appreciate their hard work and unwavering commitment — not just during National Nurses Month — but every day of the year.
So, let’s celebrate our nurses and the incredible difference they make in the lives of our patients and the communities they serve!
