UF HEALTH SHANDS ARTS IN MEDICINE ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECTOR
Jenny Baxley Lee, MA, BC-DMT, brings over 20 years of experience to the role
In July, Jenny Baxley Lee, MA, BC-DMT, became the new director of UF Health Shands Arts in Medicine.
Lee brings more than 20 years of experience in arts in health and dance/movement therapy to her role. She spent 11 of those years in foundational and leadership positions with our sister program, the UF Center for Arts in Medicine. Lee has a depth of knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the arts in a health care environment.
“It is an honor to join the artists and leadership team at UF Health Shands Arts in Medicine in the mission to harness the transformative power of the arts for health,” Lee said. “It is my highest aim to uplift and amplify the vital work of artists in health care and to co-create freshly and collectively imagined, sustainable and far-reaching ways to serve patients, their loved ones and health care providers.”
Lee has worked to develop a rich practice through many years of direct clinical experience and she provides exciting connections to the national and international field of arts in health.
“Guided by core values of creativity, well-being and equitable access to the arts, and drawing from a deep well of professional experience in arts in health practice, teaching and research, my life work aims to increase access to arts engagement and creativity in order to transform health and well-being among individuals and in communities,” she said.
