JANET AND JANIS: THE TWINS WHO TAMED TREMOR AT UF HEALTH
Deep brain stimulation delivers better quality of life
Twin sisters Janet and Janis share everything: a birthday, clothes, friends and a neurologic condition called essential tremor. This condition made daily tasks such as drinking a cup of coffee, buttoning a shirt, writing a letter and eating extremely difficult for them. Janet and Janis went to the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases at UF Health for a treatment called deep brain stimulation. Since this treatment, they have been able to enjoy their lives, tremor-free.
