A ROCK AND ROLL GOOD TIME
UF Health Shands honors employees for years of service at the Milestone Service Awards
TO HONOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS AND NOTABLE CAREERS,, the music industry has the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. At UF Health Shands, the equivalent is the Milestone Service Awards banquet.
In early March, our leaders hosted the annual event and were are able to recognize employees for their loyalty and longevity, as well as express their thanks to the staff who make UF Health Shands a success. And they did it with a rock and roll flair.
“I say this all the time, but I think it’s pretty incredible that one of the biggest components of my job is to put on an event that celebrates our staff, and I love every element of the process,” said Kristi Gaver, UF Health Shands Human Resources Employee Relations event planner and project coordinator. “Planning the Milestone Service Awards not only allows me to be creative, but it’s a great reminder of how much people love working at UF Health Shands.”
For the second consecutive year, an employee who reached the 50-year milestone was the featured star of the show.
The ceremony at the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center began by honoring Beatrice Cameron-Mayberry, an application analyst with UF Health IT Services. As her name was announced, she was met with a roaring round of applause.
Cameron-Mayberry, known as “Bea” by her friends, took center stage while a special video was played for the several hundred in attendance. It featured behind-the-scenes photos of Cameron-Mayberry and interviews with her colleagues, who wanted to surprise and honor their longtime co-worker.
After Cameron-Mayberry’s recognition, the five employees with 45 years of service were honored, followed by those with 40 years. This continued in five-year increments down to those who have logged 10 years of service.
Employees and their guests were treated to dinner and entertainment throughout the star-studded event. To make the evening even more special, Debbie Gibson, Montell Williams, Downtown Julie Brown and Cedric the Entertainer made Cameo appearances congratulating the honorees for reaching these milestones.
