UF HEALTH CONTINUES CHEST PAIN ACCREDITATION
2019 marked the third time UF Health Shands Hospital received accreditation
UF Health Shands Hospital has received accreditation as a Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI and Resuscitation hospital from the American College of Cardiology, or ACC, for a third accreditation cycle — 2013, 2016 and 2019. This accreditation means that UF Health demonstrates evidence-based processes for all patients experiencing chest pain, proves to have strong community education practices by partnering with local emergency medical services and offers community education, health screenings and trainings through outreach efforts and community health fairs.

UF Health is a chest pain center that encompasses patient care provided in the emergency department, inpatient hospital units, observation units and the cardiac catheterization lab. The reviewed accreditation processes allow the hospital system to follow standardized care for patients presenting with chest pain and to incorporate those practices into community education and EMS partnerships.
As the only resuscitation-certified facility in the area, the next closest being UF Health Jacksonville to the north or UF Health The Villages® Hospital to the south, UF Health was described by the ACC review specialist as “having one of the best and most robust cardiac arrest programs in the country, with ongoing process improvement and research initiatives to benefit the well-being of the community.”
