The open house was held Wednesday, July 24.
UF Health Shands Hospital unveiled a renovated intensive care unit for adult patients who require care for burns, severe skin disorders or serious wounds and for those requiring specialized treatment after reconstructive surgery.
The 34,000-square-foot unit now has 27 patient rooms, up from the previous eight rooms. Renovated with input from our patient care teams, the facility is a major step forward in state-of-the-art patient care. It incorporates features such as direct access to the operating room to lessen the chances of infection, a rehab gym, spaces for hydrotherapy and bariatric treatment, and other improvements.
The new Unit 2425 is expected to open for patients on Aug. 4.
