Huddles reinforce team communication
Staff testimonials support hospitality focus
At UF Health, as we’re constantly evolving and expanding, what remains consistent is our patient-focused culture. Since launching in October 2015, Hospitality Huddles have had a significant impact on the way we interact with our patients, their families and our UF Health colleagues. Huddles bring together faculty and staff to discuss patient-focused behaviors. Your feedback helps the Hospitality & Service steering committee generate fresh ideas and address new topics. Take a look below to find out what our colleagues are saying about their Huddles.
“Often, our Huddles are conducted in small groups in a public setting, like outside the front circle or in front of the UF Health Shands E.R. People will see that we’re communicating about common courtesies, security and our customers. It shows our patients, visitors and staff that there are good relationships in the security team and that we care. I think it’s important that we all come together, not just as a reminder of what it is we’re expected to do and how we’re supposed to behave, but to also share our own experiences during our shifts.”
Gussie M. Boatwright, UF Health Shands Security operations manager
“In the UF Health Medical Oncology clinic and UF Health Infusion Center, everyone has their responsibilities, but we all work like a team. The Huddles happen every day, and the purpose is team-building and building morale, and I think because of that, our clinic flows very smoothly. It’s like in football, where the offense and defense huddle together and see the game plan. It’s not only improving the coordination of different functions of the clinic, but also the team itself.”
Long H Dang, M.D., Ph.D., UF College of Medicine oncologist
